TwidGrotesk: A Typeface for Ukrainian Identity

TwidGrotesk was created to fill a gap in the world of Cyrillic fonts. We’ve long needed a high-quality neo-grotesque that’s not tied to Russian design — and now we have one. TwidGrotesk brings a clean, versatile look that works for everything from branding to editorial design, all while carrying a distinctly Ukrainian character. It’s inspired by the classic Breite Grotesk and Bauhaus traditions but with a modern twist.

This font isn’t just about style — it’s about purpose. TwidGrotesk is available for both commercial and non-commercial use through donations, and all proceeds go to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine. So, while you’re designing something that stands out, you’re also contributing to something that matters.

On top of that, TwidGrotesk includes a set of fun illustrative glyphs that work like emoji. They bring a little extra liveliness to the font and were crafted with TWID’s signature visual style in mind. Whether you need something bold and professional or a bit more playful, these glyphs help you bring your design to life.

Technical Details and Unique Features
TwidGrotesk sticks to the roots of the neo-grotesque style but adds its own personality. The subtle offsets in letters like “к”, “ж”, “г”, and “ш” give it a unique look that sets it apart from the usual Cyrillic fonts. These design choices make the font feel fresh, while still being easy to read and adaptable to any project. We also played with contrast between vertical and horizontal lines to keep things balanced but visually interesting.
